Benefit for Red Glenna at the New FINNEGANS Taproom!
Join us on Saturday, September 15th
In April 2016, Mike “Red” Glenna saw his doctor about blood in his urine. He expected kidney stones or something small, but never expected to hear, “You have cancer.” Something that has dramatically changed our lives forever.
Within a few days, at age 43, Mike “Red” was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer - Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma - and had a 7-lb. tumor removed from his abdomen leaving a 16” scar. Following surgery and subsequent chemo treatments, he developed a hernia at the center of the large incision site, which led to another surgery.
In April 2018, we learned that Red's cancer metastasized to his lymph nodes. We had to fight to get an appointment at Mayo where Red underwent a 3rd surgery. This surgery was very rough on Red physically during and after, leaving him with a second 16” scar.
Post-surgery now Red has seen his Oncologist at both Mayo and HCMC and unfortunately both agree that chemotherapy is not a treatment option that will stop the spread of the kidney cancer. Now we are waiting for the next CT scan to track the progress of the cancer. If Red’s cancer returns, again the best option will be surgery.
